Condition
The wood surfaces of this suite with edge nicks, dings and scratches throughout consistent with age and use. Areas of the wooden frames which appear lighter in color with significant losses to the original stained finish, which is visible in the catalogue illustration. These are concentrated to the backrails and front edges of the seat frames in each piece of the suite. The losses to finish in these areas present with a striated surface from the loss of finish. The pieces each present with a latter clear finish throughout. The lower portions of the wooden frames with scattered areas of original finish underneath the later coat which show areas of losses and rubbing. With minor seam separations and a few tight age cracks scattered throughout all pieces consistent with age and use. The proper right arm of the sofa with three areas of restoration, the larger measuring approximately 1 ½ inches in diameter, which are likely intended to stabilize a minor age crack. There are two minor areas of restoration to the proper left arm of the settee. All the pieces in suite have later leather upholstery. This suite shows evidence throughout of loss of original finish and restoration.
