Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 9 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout the shade. One of the background tiles just below the top aperture rim with multiple hairline cracks which appear to have been stabilized in the past with glue and presently stable. With some light surface soiling to the recessed contours of the rippled glass tiles and beneath the bronze wing overlays. The shade leading displays a nuanced russet brown and green patina. The base with some light surface scratches and rubbing to the gilt metallic finish, localized to the standard and the outermost contours of the cushion base. The recessed contours of the base show light traces of surface soiling consistent with age. The base standard appears very slightly askew. The sockets and switches appear to be original and undisturbed. Two of the three socket arms are presently loose and would benefit from stabilization. The drop finial is from the period, though the present wheel and riser are configured for a screw-mounted finial. Thus the current finial sits atop the shade aperture and is not securely affixed. The finial has one minor indentation to the central area immediately adjacent to the knop, and the knop is subtly bent to one side. There are two tight age cracks to the side of the finial which appear stable. The finial with light surface soiling to the recessed contours of the design, and minor rubbing to the patina consistent with age. When viewed in person the shade shows rich hues of bright green, cobalt blue, deep violet and garnet red, with accents of jungle green cabochons. The wing overlays on each dragonfly body provide a lovely sense of depth.
