Condition

The canvas has been relined. Under ultra-violet light the old varnish fluoresces quite opaquely, however some relatively minor signs of strengthening are visible notably to the right of the lower edge, in the prow of the ship to the left and the anchor on the beach, and scattered strokes on the large boat to the right. Presented in a 19th Century substantial gilt frame with foliate ornaments.
