The panel is cradled, flat, and has a horizontal join circa 23cm from the top edge which appears to be stable. Ultra-violet light reveals old traces of varnish over the figure which fluoresces more opaquely making it difficult to read; however a vertical line a retouching is visible along the left edge (possibly addressing a superficial abrasion), and small scattered spots are also visible notably along the framing edges and in the figure's beard and trousers. The overall appearance is good and the picture is otherwise in good condition and ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
