Condition
The board is flat and even. As just visible in the catalogue illustration there are a number of small spots of surface abrasion, notably in the sitter's left cheek and jacket in the lower right quadrant. Under ultra-violet light a number of the pigments fluoresce notably in his jacket and skin pigments, however these would certainly appear to be the artist's originals rather than clearly corresponding to retouching.
Presented in a decorative gilt frame, with a fabric-covered inner slip.
