Condition

The panel is ensuring a stable support and is flat and even, with two horizontal cradle bars on the reverse. As visible in the catalogue illustration the hairline vertical grain of the artist's wood panel is faintly visible in places of the work's surface however this appears to be entirely stable, and ultraviolet light reveals some associated very thin, minor carefully applied strokes of retouching. This painting is in good condition and ready to hang. The colours in the original are deeper, subtler and much less yellow than in the catalogue illustration. Presented in a typical 'Stuck frame', as visible in the catalogue illustration.
