Literature

Condition
The sheet has been laid down. As faintly visible in the catalogue illustration there is an old circa 38cm horizontal tear in the sky towards the upper edge of the composition, and a number of minor tears at the extreme edge of the sheet notably one circa 5cm horizontal tear near the lower part of the right edge. There are some faint, light drop marks in the cliff beyond the figures and it is probable that the ink medium has faded somewhat with age.
The colours in reality are less red overall than in the catalogue illustration.
Presented in a simple gilt frame, under glass.
