Condition
The canvas has not been lined. There are some scattered localised small areas of drying craquelure which are not particularly visually distracting. The artist's areas of thick impasto are well preserved overall. Under ultra-violet light the varnish layers fluoresce opaquely and there are numerous strokes of retouching primarily in the lower half of the composition in the lady in profile in the lower-left, the man with the cart, the front of the tram, and addressing drying craquelure including in parts of the signature. The painting's overall appearance under normal light is good, and it is ready to hang.
The colours in reality are deeper and somewhat less yellow overall than in the catalogue illustration.
Presented in a decorative gilt rococo-style frame, with a fabric-covered inner slip with a nameplate.
