Catalogue Note

These candelabra are after a model by the Anglo-French sculptor Charles Cumberworth. A mid-nineteenth century clock garniture comprising a pair of candelabra and a clock of a slight variant to this model was sold Sotheby's London, July 3, 2007, lot 312. A pair of candelabra but with a less elaborate base, lacking the seated monkeys, sold Sotheby's New York, March 30, 2011, lot 784, $23,750.
