  • Made in England during the second half of the 18th century.

Condition

Rare and very charming. Tears to the leather at the top of each boot. Wear from use. Very decorative.

Catalogue Note

The Postilion was the rider positioned on the left leading horse of a team or pair drawing a carriage. These re-enforced boots were essential, and would have been worn over normal riding boots, to protect legs exposed to the whip and chafe of the leathers.
