single leaf, 215mm. by 157mm., with a large rectangular miniature within a gold frame, 75mm. by 90mm., with two shepherds in discussion on a road before a hilly landscape where others stand with raised sticks or hand-in-hand, 2 small initials in liquid gold on pale brown or blue grounds, miniature set within 12 lines of text in an ornate lettre bâtarde with elaborate penstrokes, reference notes in margin in a fine humanist hand, eighteenth-century folio number ‘11’ on recto, 23 lines of text and another initial on verso, very slight staining along upper edge, some remnants of brown tape from previous framing, else excellent condition, in card mount
