Catalogue Note

With an Extract from the Archives confirming sale in 1942.

With its dramatic and stunning three-tone dial and perfectly preserved case, the present lot offers an extraordinary opportunity for the connoisseur. It is well positioned among the most important Vacheron Constantin vintage wristwatches.

Stainless steel chronograph wristwatches are highly sought after by collectors, existing in far few quantities than examples in gold. It is far more common for these watches to feature tachometer or telemeter scales, and an example such as the present with a pulsometer scale was likely made at the special request of a medical professional. It is exceedingly rare to find a piece of this aesthetic and horological importance; the present lot is a perfect marriage of beauty and technology.

A similar stainless steel chronograph with pulsations dial is illustrated in Lambelet, C., & Coen, L., The World of Vacheron Constantin, p. 252.
