Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 12 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. This shade was recently conserved and stabilized by a professional Tiffany restorer. Many of the cracks noted above were stabilized with hextal (an archival resin used on glass that will not discolor over time), and select areas of the leading were also stabilized. In addition, 4 small pieces of glass located in the background passages below the top aperture rim that had incurred previous damage were replaced with complementary period Tiffany glass. All of these replaced glass tiles blend in harmoniously to the rest of the shade and are not visibly detracting or noticeable. The leading has been exquisitely rendered with thin fine lines and displays a rich russet brown and green patina. The patinated bronze surfaces of the base display an exceptionally rich and vibrant green and russet brown patina. The patinated bronze surfaces with some occasional light surface scratches and light rubbing to the patina consistent with age and gentle use. With some light surface soiling to the recessed contours of the base design and with a few drip marks to the urn-form standard. All three sockets and paddle switches appear to be original and undisturbed. One socket lacking one of the small threaded attachment screws at the junction of the socket arm (regardless, the socket is entirely stable). With a period finial that shows a closely corresponding patina to the base. The threaded pin on the underside of the finial has been re-soldered for stability. A naturalistic example of this floral model displaying an impressionistic color palette. The background passages are articulated in streaky semi-transparent glass showing a range of hues, including cobalt blue, amethyst, green and dusty rose. The flower petals display a variety of decorative techniques, including vigorously mottled, striated and reverse-rippled glass, all in opaque and semi-transparent milky white glass with yellow and lime green flower centers. The lamp presents beautifully, appearing more luminous and less opaque than seen in the catalogue illustration, which is slightly oversaturated and slightly too red. Each glass tile was thoughtfully selected for this shade and displays strong artistic nuances which adds to the visual interest and pictorial depth of the lamp.
