Overall in very good condition. The glass with a few very small and minor air bubble inclusions inherent in the making. With one minor surface imperfection to the interior of the vase (approximately ½ inch in diameter, possibly an open air bubble inclusion or surface bruise inherent in the making) a few inches below the rim. The interior of the vase with some surface scratches; the bottom interior with surface soiling and dark surface residue. The interior of the vase is iridized to heighten the carved cameo decoration of the exterior. The exterior surfaces with some occasional light and minor surface scratches consistent with age and gentle handling. The vase presents with impressive scale and a bold garnet red coloration with exquisite carving articulating the floral and leaf decoration. The three-dimensionality of the layered flowers suggests a sculptural effect. A fine example of the firm’s carved cameo glass that shows the influence of asymmetrical floral design in the Japanese style as reinterpreted by Tiffany’s aesthetic sensibility and sophisticated technique.
