Condition
The paper, size format, Hine stamp, and pencil annotations on the print offered here have been compared to other Lewis Hine photographs, in the same size format, that are known to have been printed in Hine's lifetime.
This print, for its age, is in excellent condition overall. When examined in raking light, there is a faint 1/2-inch linear indentation, not breaking the emulsion, in the top center portion of the photograph. Nearby, there is a pin-dot indentation that does break the emulsion. The margin corners are slightly bumped, and there are glue remnants on the back where the caption label was once affixed. There is light soiling on the reverse. None of these issues detracts from the otherwise fine appearance of this photograph.
