the photographer's '451 West 47th Street, New York City, U. S. A., Tel: 265-1955' studio stamp on the reverse, framed, 1943, probably printed in the 1950s (Weegee's New York, pl. 213, variant cropping)
Condition
This photograph, on double-weight semi-glossy paper, is in generally good condition, especially when considered within the context of Weegee's prints which tend to have quite pronounced condition issues. There are a number of small and large sharp creases that appear to break the emulsion, primarily at the image periphery and in the corners. In raking light, a 2½-inch linear raised area is visible in the upper-central portion of the image. Also visible in raking light are a couple of small scratches and impressions that do not appear to break the emulsion. The margin corners are creased and soiled.
The reverse of the print is soiled and lightly age-darkened. '4 00' is written in an unidentified hand in pencil on the reverse. There are 2 small hinge remnants along the upper edge on the reverse.
When examined under ultraviolet light, this print may fluoresce faintly in the margins and on the reverse.
