- 'BROAD STREET AND STOCK EXCHANGE, NEW YORK CITY'
- Ferrotyped gelatin silver print
- 9 3/4 x 7 1/2 inches
ferrotyped, signed and dated in ink and titled, dated, and numbered in pencil and with the photographer's 'Foto: Andreas Feininger' credit stamp on the reverse, framed, 1940 (The Face of New York, unpaginated)
Provenance
Irving Galleries, Palm Beach, 2000
Condition
This glossy photograph is heavily ferrotyped. There is a scattering of pin-holes in the upper left corner and along the upper edge. In raking light, a number of long linear and diagonal creases are visible, primarily in the upper right and lower left quadrants, as are a few small, sharp crescent-shaped creases, all of which appear to break the emulsion.
On the reverse of the print, there are 5 deposits of yellowed adhesive and a 1½-inch thin abrasion to the upper paper-ply. Also on the reverse are the following notations in pencil, unless otherwise noted: '32-1' (circled); '3' (circled); '12' (circled and crossed out); '10' (circled and crossed out); 'BB122' (circled); and '18' [in red crayon] (circled and crossed out).
