Catalogue Note

The unique surviving copy of this edition. Escobar's brief manual of confession was a very popular work in the early years of printing; about twenty editions are recorded from the 1470s alone, many of them surviving in single copies. The Bull’s Head watermark of this edition (WILC 58091) is found in two other editions by Peter van Os and six editions by Richard Pafraet in Deventer, all probably belonging to the years 1479-1481.
