Condition
Overall very good original condition. The chair presents with some shallow surface scratches, edge nicks, dings and some losses to the finish at the lower portion of the feet consistent with gentle use. The design of this work was as a valet and the seat is hinged to reveal a storage compartment (for wallets and such). The edge of this compartment is lined with leather, which shows minor discoloration, edge losses and scratches, consistent with use, as its function to dampen the closing of the seat. A fine original condition example of the form.

Catalogue Note
The Valet chair is a timeless design by Wegner and demontrates the importance he placed on simple forms and functionality. Designed to hold the various accoutrement of a gentleman’s clothing ensemble and accessories for daily dressing, the chair incorporates vaguely biomorphic forms to allow for ease of storage on the seatback and the flexibility of keeping smaller items stowed in a compartment under the lifted seat.
