Catalogue Note
In sich gekehrt sitzt das blonde Mädchen auf einem Holzstuhl. Mit der rechten Hand hält es ein auf seinen Knien aufgeschlagenes Buch und scheint aufmerksam darin zu lesen. In seiner linken Hand hält es die „Lismete". Mit der vorliegenden Arbeit gelang es Albert Anker auf unaufdringliche und empfindsame Weise die Einfachheit typischer alltäglicher Verrichtungen zu einer realistischen wie auch liebevollen Momentaufnahme voller selbstversunkener Intimität meisterhaft zu erheben.
