Condition
The border strippped down to the lekas, many small areas of restoration and retouching, especially to the green background and to the face of Alexei. Many small areas of retouching to the clothing and a restored crack running through th Gospel book and chasuble of Pietr.

Catalogue Note
The icon painter Petr Ivanov Rimenskii worked for the Armoury Chamber between 1681 and 1691. He is also mentioned as working on an icon in the Novodevich Monastery in 1683. In 1701 he was commissioned by the Armoury Chamber to produce a calendar icon for Tsarevich Aleksei Petrovich. Three icons signed by Rimenskii are known, one of which is illustrated, N.P. Likhachev, Materiyaly dlya istorii ruskkogo ikonopisaniya (Part II), Atlas Snimkov, St Petersburg, 1906, no. 590, pl. CCCIX.
