Description

  • silk and seed pearl
  • length 18.5cm, 7 1/4 in.
with peaked front, the sides with ear lappets, the back embroidered with gilt thread flowers and with Cyrillic initials KM and IP on the lappets, embellished with seed pearls, a pearl mesh fringe at the front, later red cotton lining

Condition

Good condition. Four of five of the larger seed pearls missing to the peak of the cap. Some losses to the rim of pearls around both ear flaps. The gold thread to the back slightly loose in places. The layer of seed pearls at the bottom right of the peak unsewn in a small, approximately 2cm area. The interior with patches of replaced silk. Some evidence of repaired sewing.
