shaped circular, the openwork border cast with shellwork and scrolls enclosing lattice, raised on four conforming bracket supports terminating in scrolls, the center engraved with contemporary arms and supporters

Provenance

The arms are those of Fitzroy impaling Wrottesley for Augustus Henry, 3rd Duke of Grafton, born 1735, K.G., 1st lord of the Treasury 1765 and 1766, Lord Privy Seal 1771, and his second wife Elizabeth, daughter of the Rev. Sir Richard  Wrottesley Bart. whom he married 24 June 1769.  He died in 1811 and she in 1822.

Condition

some overall wear and light scuffs to surface, underside of border with reinforcements near feet probably later, some splits to border, otherwise good, lovely design
