Condition
The board appears sound. The varnish has discoloured. There are minor abrasions to the upper right and lower left corners with associated paint loss. There is a light line of indentation to the lamp in the upper right section approximately 5cm in length. There are small spots and lines of retouching to the left half of the composition and in places elsewhere. UV light reveals some infilling to the sitter and a few spots of retouching to the left section of the canvas, with some spots corresponding to the aforementioned retouching. An opaque layer of varnish prevents from further examination. Held in a cherry coloured wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
