Catalogue Note
Lemokh's paintings focus on rural themes and scenes of everyday peasant life. As Fedor Bulgakov records in Nashi Khudozhniki, his work was acquired by some of the most notable collectors of the period, from Tretyakov, Tereshchenko, and Stasov to the Emperor himself. Titled Plutovki in the Itinerant exhibition of 1892, this highly finished work is typical of the bittersweet themes in his painting.
