Provenance
Christie's New York, Important Silver, Objects of Vertu and Russian Works of Art, 24 October 2002, lot 6
Condition
Original canvas, which has been strengthened. There are minor abrasions to the inner frame edges. There are lines of prominent raised craquelure throughout. There is a small chip of paint loss to the central tree. UV light reveals several areas of infilling to the upper right quadrant, small areas of sweeping retouching to the door of the house and some minor spots of retouching in places elsewhere. An uneven opaque layer of varnish prevents a conclusive analysis. Held in a gold painted frame with mouldings. Unexamined out of frame.
