Condition

In overall good conserved condition. The gilding is slightly darker, more golden and attractive than in the catalogue photograph. Attractive detail to the carving. Joints sound and sturdy. There are a couple of laurel leaves missing from the base on the back of one and there is gilding missing on some of the laurel leaves at the base of the other back which can easily be touched up. Evidence of old glue repairs at the top of the arms on one chair. There are very minor hairline construction cracks at the joints which are commensurate with age and normal usage. There are minor chips to gilding and a section chipped off the gilding on the rear leg of one, which would benefit from touching up. There has been some minor touching up to the feet with gilt paint.
