Description

  • each 79cm. high, 59cm. wide, 37cm. deep; 2ft. 7in., 1ft. 11¼in., 1ft.2in.
each with a faux marble top and decorated with chinosierie figures, with a door in the back opening to reveal a shelf, one with a door in two sections, some very minor retouching to lacquer; the doors now fixed but reversible

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. Colour slightly darker overall with more contrast of colours and more natural and attractive than in the catalogue photograph.There is a hairline construction crack across each top which has been restored in the past, but is opening up slightly as visible from the catalogue photograph. Old very minor marks, chips and scratches commensurate with age. There are hairline construction cracks and minor cracks generally commensurate with age and normal use as visible from the catalogue photograph which can be filled or left. There is a medium sized chip to the lacquer and gesso to the rear of the cabinet on the right in the catalogue photograph and a minor section of the wooden carcass missing from the back of the same, approximately 5cm. long. The friezes have been strengthened. This is a very rare model with excellent Provenance and is published in the leading Literature on Venetian lacquered furniture. It is rare to find a pair of bedside commodes ensuite to the commode in lot 64.
