Condition

In overall good conserved condition. The colour is slightly darker with more contrast and more natural and attractive than in the catalogue photograph. Old very minor marks, chips and scratches commensurate with age and normal usage. Some very minor retouching in places but the lacquer is in the main original. Charming detail to the decoration. The legs have been reblocked as there are hairline construction cracks above the legs and also minor hairline age cracks generally which do not detract from the piece. There is a hairline horizontal construction crack across the top which has been filled in the past. There is a very minor chip to the carving on the bottom right corner of the top drawer. There is a small pin sized hole at the top of the right stile which can easily be filled or left as it is not too noticeable. Old minor repair to the apron which has been strengthened at the back. This is a very rare model with excellent Provenance and is published in the leading Literature on Venetian lacquered furniture. It is rare to find en suite commodes such as this and the pair of bedside commodes.
