Description

the pierced cresting and sides of the headboard carved with stylised scallopshells, rocaille, scrolls, flowers and foliage, now with a later silk buttoned back, the later pierced side-rails and footboard carved with scrolls, rocaille, flowers and leaves

Condition
In overall good conserved condition. The colour is slightly darker overall than in the catalogue photograph.The reverse of the cresting to the headboard section has been rebacked and has iron strengtheners. There are old minor restorations to the carving generally which has been well executed and some touching up with gilt paint. The lower section of the headboard beneath the button back appears to be a later edition. Some very minor chips to the painting and gilding as visible from the catalogue photograph. There are some very minor chips to the carving which are hardly noticeable. There is a gap where the cresting on the left side meets the rocaille carving on the side which can be left. Hairline construction cracks at joints generally which is commenusrate with age and usage.
