in the form of a large sack with a rope knotted around the shoulder, decorated in high relief with an immortal and a deer
Condition
The vases are in reasonable condition. There are some age and stress cracks, particularly along the edges of the relief decoration including the lotus medallions below the rim. The painted lacquer has minor flakes and small chips, particularly on the relief decoration and also on the interior below the rim. There is general flaking to the extremities, and associated rubbing to the painted lacquer. There are some possible areas of re-lacquer. The vases are fitted with copper containers to the interior which are detachable.
