of characteristic flattened pyriform shape with narrow extended finial flanked by palmette flanges and stylised dragon forms and surmounted by a stylised hand, the body decorated with an openwork inscription in the centre al-salam alaykum ya 'ali ya hasan ya husayn, enclosed by drop-shaped cut decoration arranged in a repeat pattern, mounted on a later base probably of European origin
Condition
In good condition. Colour slightly less orange than in catalogue photograph. Some wear to gilding as visible from catalogue photograph. There is resoldering to the base where the cover joins the body and a piece of old newspaper stuck to the base. Slightly loose in mount, oxidisation to surface, including minor patches of abrasion, notably to hand, and few surface scratches, all consistent with age, as viewed.
