Description

  • Berenice Abbott
  • NEW YORK AT NIGHT
  • Signed in pencil lower right on the mount
  • Gelatin silver print
  • 12 x 10 1/2 inches
mounted, signed in pencil on the mount, the photographer's Maine studio stamp on the reverse, framed, 1932, printed later (Steidl, Vol. II, cover, frontispiece, and p. 35)

Condition

This print is in generally excellent condition. There are two small, thin scratches that do not appear to break the emulsion in the upper left quadrant of the image. There are also a few tiny scattered impressions. The photographer's studio stamp on the reverse of the mount reads as follows: 'BERENICE ABBOTT / ABBOT, MAINE 04406 / ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.' There is a bit of residual ink on the mount surrounding the stamp. In the lower left corner on the reverse, '1.A / 8' is written in an unidentified hand in pencil on a round, yellow label.
