Description

  • Heinrich Kühn
  • RINGELREIHE
  • Gum bichromate print
gum-bichromate print on tissue, framed, 1903 (Kühn, pl. 65)

Condition

This delicate early print, on fine, semi-translucent tissue, is in generally very good condition. The tonality ranges from soft, dark brown, to creamy grey/white. As is often seen in prints on tissue, there is some rippling along the upper edge and in the lower left corner. The tissue is unevenly trimmed along the edges and the lower right corner is particularly fragile. The periphery of the print is slightly discolored where it is covered by the mat. As has been seen in other prints of this image, there are a few tiny dark specks that are either in the paper or a result of processing. None of these issues detracts from the otherwise attractive quality of the print. On the reverse of the print, 'Neg 39' is written indistinctly in pencil in an unidentified hand.
