Condition

This photograph has not been examined out of its frame. It appears, however, to be in generally very good condition. In raking light, several small sharp creases are visible primarily near the left edge of the image. The photograph is variously inscribed in the margins: ' "We have lived in the best time and seen the wonders of wildlife. . . and belong to a brotherhood the members of which have memories that cannot be matched. . . We have lived on into a new world which I do not pretend to understand." Sir Alfred Pease in a letter to Teddy Roosevelt' 'The ruined wood, we used to know, won't cry for retribution - the men who have destroyed it will accomplish its revenge.' ' "The danger, if any, I expounded, was from our proximity to a great human passion let loose" from "The Heart of Darkness."' 'Murchison Falls, August 1966 - unborn ele.'
