mounted, red ink cropping notations, Famous Photographers School lesson stamp, with numbers in ink, and notations in pencil and crayon on the mount, the FPS lesson and other stamps, with numbers in ink, on the reverse, framed, 1963 (cf. Adventures, pp. 136-7)
Condition
This photograph, on semi-glossy paper, is in generally very good condition. In raking light, several small, soft creases and deposits of original retouching are visible overall.
The print is mounted to off-white board that is lightly soiled on the front and reverse from handling. 'Key E' and 'Note Spots' are written in pencil and 'E' is written in crayon on the mount. The lower edge of the mount is folded. On the reverse of the mount, there is a band of adhesive remains across the right edge.
The Famous Photographers School lesson stamp on the mount is numbered in an unidentifed hand: Lesson '18' and '9.' On the reverse of the mount are the following stamps: 'Famous Photographers School, Wilton Road, Westport, Conn.,' 'Please Return to Art Archives, Graphics Building,' 'Original Art,' and FPS Lesson stamp with '18' and '8-9.' in red ink.
This photograph is also reproduced in: Famous Photographers Course, Volume III, Lesson 18, 'Fashion Photography,' pp. 9 and 41. This photograph, taken in 1963 for 'Vogue,' is the print used for reproduction in the Famous Photographers Course volumes, which were published in 1964. Technical information regarding this photograph is as follows: Hasselblad 500C with a 150mm lens; Tri-X film; exposure for electronic flash halfway between f/8 and f/11; bounced electronic flash.
