Condition

This photograph, on double-weight semi-glossy paper, is in generally very good condition. The LIFE date stamp on the reverse of the print indicates that it was made on 'December 26 1962.' In raking light, faint silvering, a small handling crease, and a few pen-point-sized impressions that do not appear to break the emulsion are visible in the upper left quadrant of the image. There is a 2-inch tape remnant in the left margin. Yellowed adhesive remnants on the reverse of the print suggest that it was previously affixed to a mount. The following is written in the photographer's hand in ink: 'Leica,' '35mm lens,' '1/10 sec,' and 'daylight.' The numbers '692/E6' and '2' [circled] are written in an unidentified hand in pencil. This photograph is accompanied by a mount remnant that is annotated in an unidentified hand in ink and variously stamped 'Famous Photographers Schools, Wilton Road, Westport, Conn.,' 'Please Return to . . . Graphics Bu . . .,' and 'Original.' This photograph is also reproduced in: Famous Photographers Course, Volume I, Lesson 3, 'Composing Your Photographs,' pp. 12 and 41. The technical information regarding the making of this photograph is as follows: Leica with a 35mm lens; Super XX film; 1/25 second at f/8; daylight.
