Condition

These prints, both on double-weight paper with a faint sheen, are in generally excellent condition. 'Washing J Class 605, Shaffers Crossing, Roanoke Virginia' - In raking light, faint silvering at the upper left corner of the image is visible. There is slight wear to the margin edges and corners. On the reverse, the print is annotated in pencil as follows: 'NW 13'; 'PCFG3'; 'ARCH'; and '11-84.' Based on these annotations, we believe the printing date to be 1984. The reproduction rights stamp is annotated 'NW 13' in ink. 'MWL. 121. Y' and 'WL031.1' are written in an unidentified hand in pencil. 'Birmingham Special at Rural Retreat, Virginia'- Upon close examination, the following are visible: a tiny loss of emulsion and a small, thin scratch near the left edge; and a very small, shiny deposit near the lower right edge. On the reverse are the following annotations in pencil: 'NW 1635'; 'KE3'; 'ARCH'; and '8-84.' Based on these annotations, we believe the printing date to be 1984. The reproduction rights stamp is annotated 'NW 1635' in ink. 'MWL. 120. Y' and 'WL.018.7' are written in an unidentified hand in pencil on the reverse. Both prints are accompanied by a frame backing with Fraenkel Gallery, San Francisco labels.
