Condition

There are a total of 100 copies in the edition of this portfolio. Karsh retained 25 and the remaining 75 copies were consigned to the Weston Gallery in Carmel, CA. This copy is edition 01 from the original Karsh set. These prints are in generally excellent condition, except as noted below. There are scattered deposits of original retouching on several of the images. On the reverse of several mounts are unobtrusive smudges and many of the penciled titles are slightly smudged. Albert Einstein Helen Keller - In the left portion of image are a small, approximately 1-inch, hairline scratch and a small, soft impression. Marc Chagall George Bernard Shaw - There is a faint smudge on the left side of the mount. Jacques Cousteau - There is a small, approximately 1-inch, hairline scratch to the right of the sitter's nose. This print is dated '1972' in pencil on the reverse of the mount. Albert Schweitzer - There is a small, raised particle to the left of the sitter. Joan Miro - There is a tiny hairline scratch just below the sitter's sweater cuff in the left portion of the image. Jean Sibelius - There is a small matte adhesion in the lower portion of the image. Robert Frost Georgia O'Keeffe Ernest Hemingway - The lower left edge of the print has a very slight, small ripple, possibly from mounting. Winston Churchill Pablo Casals Pablo Picasso Muhammad Ali - On the sitter's hand is a small particle trapped between the print and mount during dry-mounting. The portfolio case is in generally excellent condition. There is no front matter accompanying this portfolio.
