Description

- 'REFLECTION IN WINDOW PANE OF EMPIRE STATE BUILDING'
- Gelatin silver print
signed and titled in pencil on the reverse, 1931-32 (Dreaming in Black and White, pl. 166)
Provenance
The Julien Levy Collection, purchased from Jean Farley Levy for the Museum by Lynne and Harold Honickman, 2001
Condition
This somewhat warm-toned early print, on double-weight paper with a semi-glossy surface and trimmed to the image, is in generally very good condition. The right edge is rubbed, with a few tiny losses of emulsion. The lower right corner has emulsion loss at its tip. When examined in raking light, there is a crescent-shaped handling crease that does not appear to break the emulsion. Also in raking light, some scuffs are visible in the upper right quadrant.
On the reverse, there is light soiling. '2001-62-1079' (crossed out) is in pencil at the lower left edge.
