a group of 10 dye-transfer prints, each signed in ink in the margin, 1938-73, printed in 1983 (10)
Provenance
Gift of David E. Stokes, 1984-91
Condition
These dye-transfer prints are in generally excellent condition. The color remains rich and saturated, with no apparent fading. The plates are as follows:
Cutting the Card Quickly! - In raking light, a 1/4-inch crease that does not appear to break the emulsion is visible to the right of the bullet.
Milk Drop Coronet
.30 Bullet Piercing An Apple - In the lower right quadrant, there is a 5-inch soft linear impression that is barely visible in raking light.
Football Kick - There are several tiny deposits of original retouching, some of which appear to have turned a greenish hue.
Cranberry Juice into Milk - In raking light, the following are visible: a small thin deposit of retouching in the lower left quadrant; and several small, superficial scratches (the largest measuring 4-inches) that do not appear to break the emulsion overall.
Pigeon Released
Bullet Through Banana
Diver - In raking light, an eraser-head-sized impression is visible near the left edge of the image.
Moscow Circus
Bullet Through Candle Flame - In raking light, deposits of retouching are visible.
