- Signed in pencil
- Platinum print
platinum print, signed in pencil on the image and on the reverse, matted, the photographer's credit label, with typed title, date, and medium, on the reverse, framed, 1927 (Center for Creative Photography, pl. 9; Pictorial Photography in America, v. 5, 1929, pl. 5)
Provenance
Acquired from Andrew Smith Gallery, Santa Fe, 1990
Condition
This platinum print is in generally very good to excellent condition. The upper left corner of the image is lighter in tonality and exhibits slightly less detail. Upon very close examination, the following are visible: a 1½-inch scuff to the right of the tree; barely perceptible, thin deposits of original retouching; and soiling of indeterminate nature in the lower right corner near the signature. Along the upper edge on the reverse of the print is a 1/2-inch darkened band, possibly yellowed adhesive from prior hinging.
The reverse of the mat is soiled from handling and graphite. 'LGC/125' is written on the reverse in an unidentified hand in pencil.
The photograph is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Andrew Smith Gallery.
