Catalogue Note

The Augsburg town mark on this beaker is the earliest published by Helmut Seling (Augsburger Goldschmiede,  2007, no. 0010). The date sequence  given, 1529-1547 does not quite tally with the maker Hans Sturm (Seling no. 698) who is recorded becoming a  master in 1555.
