San Diego, Fine Arts Gallery, Baroque Works, 14 April - 13 May 1973, loaned by Moir (according to a label on the reverse).

Condition

The panel is uncradled. there are two horizontal joins that are reinforced with small battens on the reverse. under a dull and discolored old varnish. overall the paint surface is well preserved and detail is very good in the figures and landscape. the lower join which runs through the figure of the man drinking at right and into the horses at center is slightly visible to naked eye and there is old discolored retouching along it. examination under UV light shows retouching along lower join as mentioned and also some on the right side of the upper join which runs through rocks. a few other retouches can be seen here and there at edges. this painting would benefit from a light cleaning and re-addressing of some of the old restorations and the overall appearance should improve. Offered in a brown wood frame.
