Condition
Copper plate is flat and stable. paint surface is under a very dirty, discolored and dull varnish. there is a small paint loss at upper left edge (not visible in catalogue photo) and some minor scuffing along left edge from frame rubbing.the paint surface overall is very well retained with nice impasto and good detail. it is impossible to see anything under ultraviolet due to the thick old varnish. this painting would benefit from a light cleaning and sensitive restoration which should greatly improve the appearance.
Offered in a carved and gilt wood frame with nicks and losses to the gilding.
