Catalogue Note
Sky Garden is from the 1969-70 Stoned Moon series inspired by Rauschenberg’s own viewing of the Apollo 11 launch mission on July 17th 1969 at the Kennedy Space Centre. This experience influenced him to create the responsive series in collaboration with Gemini press. At eighty-nine inches in height, Sky Garden was, at the time of its creation, the largest hand-pulled lithograph as well as the largest print in the Stoned Moon series.
