Etching with drypoint, 1640, a very fine impression of the second (final) state, New Hollstein's first state (of two), with the slipped stroke, printing with burr on the mouth, the hand, on the cape at right and on the borderlines below, on paper with part of an Arms of Amsterdam watermark

Condition

With narrow margins all around, thread margins in places at top, in good condition apart from an 11mm diagonal repaired tear at centre of lower edge, a 5mm horizontal tear at centre of left edge, other small nicks and minor repairs mainly in the margins, a few very pale brown stains, a pen and ink inscription verso showing through slightly recto at lower left, framed.
