Condition

The support consists of two vertical oak panels, with a short, steep bevel on all four sides. The support is uncradled and flat. The painti surface is, generally speaking, well preserved. There are some small losses and retouchings along the join. There are some small areas of thinness in the dark areas of the drapery, and the shadowed areas of the blue of the woman's coat. There are spot retouchings throughout the background, and a large repair in the extrme uppper right, but the figures themsleves are largely untouched. The varnish is opaque and required replacing. OVerall the painting is in good condition but in need of a clean.
