Condition

The canvas has a fairly old lining which is sound. The paint surface is in satisfactory condition, though showing localised signs of wear. There are some significant areas of strengthening and retouching such as to the sitter's neck and upper chest, and to her arms and the floor beneath. The painting is covered by a thick layer of varnish. The painting is sold in a gilt frame.
