Condition

This charming signed work is in very good condition and has been recently cleaned, so that the white and blue hues appear wonderfully fresh. An area of white flecks scattered in the upper left corner and along the lower edge are superficial and do not contain pigment. The fact that they immediately disappear when dabbed with white spirit shows that they are in the varnish and can easily be removed. In certain light the varnish can appear uneven, this is because it has been sprayed on. This panel remains very stable and flat. It is slightly thinner towards the lower half. Inspection under Ultraviolet light confirms this panel's excellent condition. It reveals some very minor restrengthening to specific areas in the darker shadows, and to the eyes. Overall the picture is in extremely good shape. This lot is sold in a good plain black frame, with a painted silver inner edge.
